NVA understands that veterinary professionals often put the needs of others ahead of their own. This selflessness can lead to physical exhaustion, mental fatigue, and emotional and spiritual burnout.

That’s why NVA offers our veterinary community several programs that focus on their well-being.

Trust our dedicated wellness team to help you thrive

Our chief community officer, Turpin Mott, leads a team of experts devoted to helping veterinary professionals overcome personal and career stressors while becoming re-energized. Turpin, a former U.S. Marine, has spent 20+ years as a coach, consultant and wellness influencer, including helping fellow soldiers cope with combat fatigue. Turpin’s team helps our healers overcome the often-silent tolls of the profession, teaching whole-body/mind wellness through seminars, instruction and more.

Our Health of Healers retreat helps you recharge

Health of Healers is NVA’s one-of-a-kind, immersive retreat for managing veterinarians. The program, which takes place over four days in a relaxing setting, aids veterinarians in making positive changes in their professional and personal lives.

As the cornerstone of our emphasis on caring for our caregivers, Health of Healers is designed to rejuvenate, rehabilitate and inspire. You’ll learn how to:

  • Create a healthy, balanced lifestyle
  • Move past burnout, exhaustion and scattered attention
  • Build your leadership skills by refining your vision and expressing expectations clearly
  • Consistently check off priorities in a timely manner, despite the endless stream of smaller obstacles each new day may bring
  • Use improved awareness of yourself and others to communicate more effectively

Your entire team benefits from our culture of care

We stand by our promise to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of our entire veterinary community by investing in comprehensive wellness programs, tools and resources. Find encouragement, inspiration and support through initiatives such as:

  • Care for Caregivers. This two-day event is designed to enhance the mindset of the whole person, focusing on the leaders at the forefront of caring for our cherished animals.
  • Connect. NVA’s health specialists lead this four-day retreat, which provides doctors and technicians with an opportunity for reflection and development. In addition to learning how to shift negative attitudes toward a positive mindset, participants will discover how to change behaviors and beliefs that may impede their success.
  • “Pawcasts.” In these podcast videos, Turpin reveals how to deal with stress, offers lessons on self-awareness and more.
  • Well-Being Resource Center. This online support center includes a wealth of wellness tips as well as tools to improve communication and listening skills, learn de-escalation strategies, develop action plans and more.

For almost 25 years, NVA has been devoted to its people: our doctors, their teams and our growing internal community. NVA’s culture prioritizes your personal and professional growth because when you are mindful of your own wellness, you’re not only better prepared to care for your patients but can enjoy a healthier, happier life.
